Tuesdays have to be the best day I have. Except maybe Fridays. Well, both Tuesdays and Fridays are good stuff. Tuesdays I have one class worth going to, and the prof makes it a LOT of fun. Physics recitation and I actually learn the subject. It doesn't hurt that we go off onto tangents. It's the one class I've had at SB where nobody's looking at the clock. We consistently go 15, 20 minutes over, and nobody cares. Then today was absolutely beautiful, which didn't hurt either; and of course there's Life Talks. Speaking of which ...
Last week on Life Talks:
What do you get when you put a Catholic zealot in a group Bible discussion of spiritual blindness and add a tiny, offhand comment about people who don't allow their spiritual leaders to marry?
Take a couple minutes to think about that before reading on.
Apparently at Stony Brook you get fifteen minutes of ranting about how nobody respects Catholic beliefs and how they're the original apostolic church and how they don't worship Mary despite what everyone says and how the Pope doesn't get any respect outside of Catholic circles and how Peter (sic) and the Ethiopian eunuch show that Catholicism is perfectly legitimate in God's eyes and Paul was subject to Peter and ...
Well, yeah. It was quite a scene, and nobody still quite understands how "There are some people whose beliefs don't allow their spiritual leaders to marry" started the whole spiel, especially since we're not there to even talk about different variations on Christianity. And, hey, I'm not the one who wrote the Bible, I just report what it says. 1 Timothy 4:1-4, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 4:6. 'nuff said. Props BJ for your handling of that though. And props Heather for sticking up for a group of people who goodness knows you've had differences with. And hey, while we're on the subject props to the guy, Michael, for being big enough to apologize afterwards for making a scene.
Given that experience, this week was kind of a nice change. Laid back (though the guy didn't come back, which was sad), all about Biblical love. Some good stuff in there. Focus was of course 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (yeah, you all know it), but also dipped briefly into Romans 5:8 to end on. And there was no screaming this week.
I think I gotta start eating before though, this waiting till afterwards is killing me. And afterwards, I was talking with Keysha while we were heading back to her dorm, and she told me about this goose that had hopped down to Roth pond, because it only had one leg that worked. Sad, very sad. Except then I was walking back to Irving and I actually saw said goose, and I just had to stop and talk to Daddy about it.
But it's all taken care of, and that's what matters.
